Summer has started!

Sunday

0730 6 mile run done felt great

Memorial Day weekend


exercise
today I ran 5 miles on the beach bike path. I felt great I run to a little floating city dock and sit there bobbing on the swell, it feels like a boat. I love that little dock!

thoughts on swimming

tomorrow I intend to find out how many laps I can swim in 1 hour
the local public pool has $2/swim. I will be there with this silly shorts tan from months of running outside.....in a YIKES!! bathing suit yes it is terrifying but true I hope i dont scare anyone too badly Because OK YIKES a bathing suit in public!! It will force me into the pool fast for sure!

0600 m1 whole wheat toast and peanut butter+coffee
0900 m2 cottage cheese and vegetable sticks
1200 special K with red berries and 1% milk
1500 strawberries/peaches and handful of walnuts
1800 pork/mashed potatoes/green salad with balsamic vinegar/olive oil
2000 lemonade and vodka NBA game=snacks and a drink kind of a lazy habit I can not rise above

I have been bored of running lately and need a new cardio activity to work
today my workout was a 3 mile sunset beach walk with my husband~we live in paradise!

13 days until 13.1


Monday

I am OK and that is good!
awareness is what makes a difference.
today I am aware of how beautiful life is health, family, job. I am grateful and take nothing for granted.

0600 pita with mortadella and cheese/coffee
0800 Vanilla Right protein shake blended frozen mixed wild berries (my purple shake)
0830 long run (ran 9.24 miles in 1:49:15
1200 sushi spicy tuna roll and dragon roll green tea
1530 special K red 1% milk
1800 more sushi and green tea
2100 lemonade+vodka (1 shot) wasabi peas+vegetable sticks




the wind has blown away so with Anthony back at UCLA and Cassandra and Samantha off to school and Ramzi at work
today I will do 10 miles as I countdown to San Diego 6/6/10 I intend to run 2:30 or less but have not really focused on how that will happen so today I will run with the garmin and see how things really are. 13 days until 13.1

another Sunday


Sunday quite possibly my favorite day of the week!
my family is all around me~it feels relaxing and I am happy.

I have a beautiful life
my health is good
I will run 13.1 miles in 14 days at the San Diego Rock and Roll Half Marathon
I lack nothing
God is good.

so today was to be a 12 mile run on the beach but I am rethinking. high winds today 20-30 mph with gusts 40 mph especially strong at the beach~if I head down there I may get sand blasted: God's free microdermabrasion along with running against the wind. I will run but maybe not at the beach.
update here i actually ran only 5 miles tooooo windy!!!

yesterday was day 3 of 21 day mini self challenge no alcohol. I feel good, no worries. I think will be easy, I just needed to shake up my routine and that was an area of lazy choices.

1100 a whole apple
1300 homemade chicken enchilada/tossed green salad (at work)
1800 2 slices of cheese pizza
2000 5 mini chocolate candies

calorie dense food choices little nutritional value to this free day. OK back to 6 days of better choices starting now.

plan for Saturday



13.1 is coming fast I need to run!!! I want to get 2:30 or better!!
worked today

no exercise due to poor planning~I forgive me! progress not perfection~continue forward do better next time!

food choices were good and 2 day of my 21 days of no alcohol

feeling good

working again all day tomorrow so if I fail to plan no run will happen that is a fact!

also pack food or suffer the horrors of cafeteria food(shriek!)

so plan will be a sunrise beach run before work walking up early should not be a problems sans red wine (my beverage of choice)

I was raise Catholic and although I am not practicing that religion currently my intention remains to return to that faith I once had as a child. I am learning what is true for me. It is a process. like all things that you know for certain it takes time to understand what I believe about God.

I am struggling with wine I do know this red wine is healthy in moderation I usually have a glass 3 night a week and it is enjoyable at the time I drink it but the problem is it makes my mind cloudy the next day I hate that so for the next 21 days I am choosing to have no wine.

another day in paradise



Last Night's SUNSET WAS BEAUTIFUL!

0530 whole wheat toast peanut butter and coffee
0800 cottage cheese and popchips (about 6) water
1015 run today 5.9 miles in 1:08 beautiful day!!
1200 huge bowl of vegetable soup with a slice of provolone cheese
1415 kashi red berry cereal
1730 steak sandwich with mushrooms onions and cheese
2200 1 glass of red wine and popchips (weak end to an otherwise good day food choice-wise!
focus is on progress not perfection...life is a journey~keeps moving so dont get stuck in past or fling yourself into the future.....live now it is the only chance you ever get and that is the truth that I know!
food choices get posted after I eat to keep it honest

be aware your life affects others just you being you living your life affects other people

be kind
be love and reach out to support others, you know wherever you are on your journey~your life may inspire someone else~so just be~Be OK!

the journey continues


The end is the beginning, is the end, is the beginning. A beautiful upward spiral of progress and not perfection, concerned with journey, not the end results, but the onward push.

0930 M2 1 slice whole wheat toast+turkey meatloaf+catsup
1200 M3 homemade vegetable soup (vegetable broth+ carrots+cauliflower+kale+black beans+ tomatoes+corn)
1500 M4 Iced Chai Shake (with vanilla Right Protein; vanilla Silk; chai tea concentrate; ice)
1800 M5 grilled steak+ baked sweet potato+green salad tossed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil
2000 M6 sleepy time tea +protein (pumpkin) pancakes

mindset today dedicate today to friend recovering form donating half of his liver to his mother~heal quickly both of you!!

Disneyland






I love acting like a kid. Yesterday was blissful. An entire day devoted to eating junk, running to the next line, laughing, getting splashed and who watches fireworks that's when there are no lines to your favorite ride!!!
highlights of the day included
5 times on Pirates of the Caribbean (our favorite slow ride ever)
2 times on Space mountain (our favorite roller coaster!)
french fries twice in one day (WHAT??)
Tiger Butter (crazy fudge thing yummy)

getting stalled in Buzzlightyear ride for = my score of......over 200,000 (kind of a cheaters way to high score)
drive home with my youngest fast asleep dreaming of Heffellumps and Woozles!!



And a shout out to my brother John in his amazing Cleveland Marathon effort today of 3:48:07 ~he is so close to Boston qualifying I bet he can taste it Happy 51st Birthday big brother!!! you are so close! YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!! I can not wait to read his post race blog with all the details so exciting!!!!!!! Go Trailboy!!

Disneyland all day baby




annual Disneyland day will be tomorrow for me and my 13 year old daughter!
we painted our nails for the occasion mine like Minnie and hers with Mickey
free day for eats what ever we want and no exercise except standing in lines!

Sunday will be my long run day while sending out fast run wishes to my brother trying to qualify for Boston in Cleveland's Marathon! GO Trailboy (hey maybe you should change your name to Road(race)boy!!

I ran a negative split, I think!


23 days until San Diego!!

my run today

began at 0838 62 degrees barely any wind (finally) sunny, high tide with big waves=surfers galore
perfect running weather!!
out to pier 2.31 miles in 23:29 pace 10:11
back from pier 2.02 miles in 20:26 pace 10:06
then walked home .32 miles
I finally did it a negative split (I think) my run back from the pier was faster than my run to the pier!

no way I can keep that pace up though. I am really feeling tired and I only traveled 4.65 miles.

food today
0630 m1 pita with a thin slice of mortadella/provolone and a cup of coffee
1030 m2 whole wheat bread 1 slice with romaine lettuce and turkey meatloaf lots of water (post run)
1100 handful of red grapes
1300 1 egg scrambled+sprinkle of cheddar cheese+1/2 small pita tons of water
1530 scoop of butter pecan ice cream at baskin-robins with my daughter
1700 more grapes they are delicious!
1930 homemade pizza and a beer with my husband while watching the Cavs get killed~ Cleveland Rocks but when it comes to sports they are cursed!!

25 days until San Diego Half!





my 2 teenage girls convinced me to let them stay home and avoid the first 2 classes today~I agreed if they would go for a run at the beach at sunset~so it is the plan!! school PE is so uninspired and I don't want my girls to think that exercise is boring. Imagine them running on the beach at sunset wind waves birds other runners sun setting into the Pacific inspiring way to toss a little happiness into their TV/Computer/cell phone lives!

0630 m1 whole wheat toast+peanut butter+coffee

0833 out the door for a run~ beautiful day 58 and breezy sun shining! I ran 3 miles and I ran up each ramp I came to as I ran to knob hill and down the next so hill work today made it interesting because I do not like hills! summary 3 miles in 33 minutes not too shabby considering the added hills and then once the endorphins were flowing I walked a mile to enjoy the high! beautiful way to start any day!!

1030 m2 vegetable soup and falafel with cucumber/thyme/yogurt sauce
1215 m3 Right Vanilla protein +frozen mixed berries=yummy
1300 cottage cheese(low fat) with 10 BBQ chips
1435 special K red berry (1 cup) and 1% milk 1/2 cup
1600 m4 skip ate a bunch not hungry
1800 m5thin sliced rib-eye grilled +homemade cabbage slaw+brown rice
2000 m6 popcorn (my homemade popped in a brown lunch bag in the microwave)+1 slice of cheese

I will go back later to update my food need to keep portions small and eat real food often and lots of water all day

my degree progression
yeah another class is history! got an A and it looks like I may graduate with honors~I am completing my BSN during my 50th year of life ~not the way most people do things but this is my life and It works for me just fine!

house/laundry are what weighs me down ~why the need to hold onto so many things? It is boring to clean and I wish Icould just throw it all away and live a much more simple life!

1530 m4 vegetable soup (homemade vegetable soup)

swim to cross train



I need to cross train and I found a local pool with $2/day ~score! (the pool is the PLUNGE) no membership just pay when you want to swim!
so I put on a swimsuit and laughed at my runner's tan~then I found the solution for that weight training in my backyard in my swimsuit! And nature's tanning bed ~my back yard and the actual sunshine~beautifully energizing and free and a pear+ berry vanilla protein smoothie~got to get rid of shorts tan from running~hard work but I am willing to do it

5K this weekend

need to keep working! I already know I want to do a triathlon so I may just ride my bike to the pool once a week!
