My 18 year old is off at Humboldt State and requested cookies from home for her 18th birthday. So this morning I made a batch and here is the recipe I have developed.
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c butter
1 1/2 c sugar
1 2/3c flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
roll walnut sized balls of dough in cinnamon sugar then bake in a 375 degree oven for no more 9 minutes.
OK yikes this old fashioned recipe could probably use a healthy make over but I will just not eat any and hope my daughter shares these with many people I mean who uses shortening and butter besides Paula Dean?
