Building a base

Mental toughness
Getting the planned training done no excuses

With a year to train I need to just log the miles and hours in each sport

By December I want to be able to
Swim for an hour
Run for 1.5 hours
Bike for 2 hours

All without blinking

Currently I
-hit the pool and swim 15-30 minutes and get out can't pace myself get tired or bored or annoyed or whatever
-hit the road and run to work every morning 3.3 miles about 40 minutes with a 10 pound backpack
Filled with shower stuff and change of clothes
-hit the road on my bike umm not any habits here need to figure this out I have done one 62 mile hilly ride a few years back and I am so slow so so so so slow my poor husband he stayed with me but when climbing the switchbacks in Palos Verdes and I was going 4mph so slow I almost toppled over

I need to get my head into he bike world
I don't even know how to put air in my tires let alone change a flat or put a popped chain back on I need to become more independent my husband is not going to be with me during my first half Ironman so I need to figure this out maybe join a bike club or take a few classes at a bike shop

Swam laps after work
Had to share a lane with a breast stroke swimmer enough said

Swam 700 in 15 minutes

Left my new googles poolside ugg so annoyed I liked those googles

Ran 3.3 miles in 43 minutes with a 10 pound backpack in tow with work clothes and shower stuff I need to figure out how to stream line this
Roughly 13 min/mile pretty slow just trotting along could go all day at this pace

15 mile bike ride in 1:35

Average pace 9.5mph faster than last year but still pretty slow
No wind sunny 70 flat except for climb up from the beach

My newest obsession

Curly Kale finely chopped
Thinly sliced raw Brussels Sprouts
Red cabbage chopped
Dried cranberries
Pumpkin seeds
Lightly tossed with Chinese chicken salad bottled salad dressing yum

Ironman Silverman 70.3

349 days to get prepared to show up at this ironman event ready to roll!

That crazy quiet moment sitting snuggling my puppy considering registering then fill out the fields and instead of deleting I hit submit! It's a done deal I am going to challenge myself to attack 70.3 miles next year this time.

I need to find a game plan!

Lucky for me my boss is a full ironman finisher. And she is also doing this event so I will ask her a ton of questions!

The 1.2 mile swim will be the most enjoyable part for sure!
The 56 mile hilly bike ride will be my biggest challenge
Not to mention coming off the bike to run 13.1 ouch I want to be able to run

This means a great deal of training but not overdoing because injury means game over

Today I ran 4.5 miles in 49 mins
Going to take a long bike ride tomorrow
